ABOUT THIS PROJECT
On a trip to Kew Gardens, we experienced a eureka moment for the evolution of our Drinking Fountain concept. Nature holds a lot of ideas and inspiration, and by thinking more simply and naturally, we found an elegant way for the piece to pour drinks for guests. We realised the piece could become much more fluid and natural if we used the weight of the water to create the movement.
Following the completion of this first iteration, we took it to Brockwell Park to share it with the local community.
HOW IT WORKS
Tropism (the turning of all or part of an organism in a particular direction in response to an external stimulus) Well MK1 is built entirely by hand and uses ultrasonic sensors to detect the presence of a thirsty person. Once approached, the gentle bowing motion is created simply by moving the liquid up and down the stem.
